Assimilation of Inorganic Cobalt into Rumen Microorganisms
نویسنده
چکیده
Assimilation of ionic cobalt by axenic cultures of four species of anaerobic rumen bacteria was measured using 6oCo as cobalt (II) chloride. Uptake could be measured in all four species but may not represent active accumulation in the case of Lactobacillus casei and Propionibacterium acnes. Significant uptake (89.5% of 6oCo present) was demonstrated by Selenomonas ruminantium from media containing nanomolar concentrations of inorganic cobalt and it was present within the cell as an organic cobalt complex in both lag and log phases of growth.

Utilization of inorganic sulfate by rumen microorganisms. I. Incorporation of inorganic sulfate into amino acids.
The ability of rumen microbiota to incorporate inorganic sulfate into cystine and methionine was suggested by Loosli et al. (1949) and demonstrated by Block et al. (1951) through use of radioactive sodium sulfate. The significance of this incorporation as applied to ruminant nutrition has been discussed by Davis et al. (1954). Formation of microbial protein in the rumen of cattle is accompanied...

Using 24 hours in vitro cultures of rumen microorganisms, this study investigates the effect of buffering capacity of 2 inorganic compounds (M1=119.43 and M2=116.50 meq/L) on the in vitro rumen acidogenic value (AV), medium pH, dry matter disappearance (INVDMD) and methane emission of lactating dairy cow diets containing various forage to concentrate ratios as 40:60 (FC40:60) and 30:70 (FC30:70...

متن کاملEffect of Cobalt Supplementation on Performance of growing Calves
Fibrous crop residues especially cereal straws form an integral part of the ruminant feeding under the prevailing livestock production systems in India. The abundance of these fibrous crop residues to the tune of 425 million tonnes (Banerjee, 1998), however, is constrained by their poor nutritional quality in terms of digestible nutrients and minerals. Promising approach appears to be the criti...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of adding sulfuric acid to sugarcane topssilage on rumen bacteria and whole rumen microorganisms (WRM) and compare the digestibility of sugarcane tops treated with different amount of urea, molasses and sulfuric acid between Holstein cow and Khouzestan buffalo. Regardless of the type of the treatment, potential of gas production (B) by cow WRM (...
